Emergency authorisations of neonicotinoid pesticides 2020-21

EFSA organised an online public meeting to present the assessments it carried out on the emergency authorisations for neonicotinoids that were granted by several EU Member States in 2020 and 2021.

The event was composed of two sessions. The first was aimed at explaining the methodology used, and the data appraised, to carry out the assessments. A Q&A session allowed EFSA to explain and clarify further the details of the work.

The second session was devoted to collecting feedback from participants on the possible development of a tool that would harmonise the assessment of applications for emergency authorisations, increasing transparency and efficiency at the same time.

The input received showed that there is keen interest from stakeholders to continue engaging on this matter. EFSA will continue seeking the involvement of interested stakeholders to inform the development of the tool.
