DESCRIPTION:The Association of Official Seed Certifying Agencies (AOSCA)\n\n\n\n\nis a non-profit organization founded in 1919 (formally known as the International Crop Improvement Association) in an effort to establish credible standards for the production of high-quality seed. Today\, AOSCA has member agencies across the U.S. as well as seven member countries including Canada\, Chile\, Argentina\, Brazil\, Australia\, New Zealand\, and South Africa. \nThere is only one certification agency in each state; generally a Crop Improvement Association\, Seed Growers Association\, Department of Agriculture\, or within an Agricultural College. Each member agency adheres to the AOSCA minimum standards but has the flexibility to make standards more stringent if necessary for the production in their own state. All AOSCA standards abide by the Federal Seed Act requirements for certified seed.

DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce that the 2025 NAPB annual meeting will be held May 19-23 in Kona\, Hawai‘i Island. The meeting will take place at the Outrigger Kona Resort and Spa. In preparation NAPB is offering up to $1\,000 in reimbursement to 40 US based students and 10 early career scientists (within 7 years of highest degree earned) who are NAPB members. All awardees will be required to participate in the poster session. This award can only be used for travel expenses; it cannot be used for conference registration. Those interested will need to apply by December 31\, 2024. The link to apply has been sent to all members. We look forward to seeing you in Hawai‘i. \nThe NAPB annual meeting provides unique opportunities for private and public sector plant breeders and students to network and build professional relationships. Experts from 40+ crops share innovative breeding strategies and discuss emerging technologies to advance the science of crop improvement. Open dialogue about plant breeding public policy issues are encouraged and facilitated. This Special Congress celebrating the 25th Anniversary of AFSTA will be held in Rwanda\, in the beautiful city of 1000 hills\, Kigali. \nThe congress is that platform that enables seed people from all over Africa and beyond to network and exchange ideas on what the current situations portend to the future of seed production and trade. . \nThe annual AFSTA congresses provide great opportunities for the seed industry stakeholders to network and trade\, and also to provide information on the latest policy developments that have the potential to impact seed trade activities in Africa. \nWe believe that when professionals meet together in such in person forums\, they are able to share experiences as well as predict and influence where they want the seed sector to be in the coming years. \nIn this congress\, we will discuss\, among other issues the state of implementation of the harmonized seed trade policies and regulations by member States\, as well as the Africa Free Trade agreement and its potential impact on the Seed Industry. We will do this because AFSTA remains relentless in advocating for improvement of the seed trade within Africa\, a key mandate for the association.  \nWe take pride that our congresses attract several high-profile delegates from Africa and globally.
