Beck’s Offers New Seed Treatment to Protect Against SDS

Beck’s announces that it will offer ILeVO, a Bayer CropScience-developed seed treatment that combats sudden death syndrome (SDS) in soybeans with activity against nematodes.
“For years, SDS has plagued fields in soybean markets, causing massive destruction and detrimental yield loss,” explains Scott Beck, vice president at Beck’s. “We’re excited to present farmers with the opportunity to add ILeVO to Beck’s Escalate™ yield enhancement system.”
From 2011 to 2014, ILeVO showed an average 5.4 bushel per acre yield increase across 190 SDS trials in the United States, offering protection against SDS and soybean cyst nematodes (SCN). Symptoms of both diseases are not unique to the cause and are often not visible early on. According to the company, ILeVO’s success lies in its ability to protect the root zone, prevent early seedling infections, and reduce the intensity of SDS foliar symptoms.
“By adding ILeVO to Beck’s Escalate seed treatment, farmers can go to the field for the first time this spring knowing their soybeans are not only protected against SDS, but also nematodes, insects and other fungal diseases,” Beck says.
Escalate is a proprietary seed treatment that is standard on all Beck’s seed at no additional cost. Escalate has been proven to improve plant health, growth and yield. With a proprietary mix of insecticides, fungicides and biologicals, Escalate works to not only protect seed and seedlings from insects and diseases, but also stimulate root and shoot growth.
