Nominate a Breeder For the Canadian Plant Breeding & Genetics Award

The Canadian Plant Breeding and Genetics Award is co-sponsored by Seeds Canada and Germination and is presented to a public or private sector researcher who has made a significant contribution to the advancement of Canadian plant agriculture through research in plant breeding and genetics. Individuals are nominated by their peers and are selected by the Germination editorial board.

The Canadian Plant Breeding and Genetics Award is presented annually to a public or private sector researcher who has made a significant contribution to the advancement of Canadian plant agriculture through research in plant breeding and genetics. The recipient will have demonstrated excellence in one or more of the following areas:

  1. World class application of the science of plant breeding and genetics;
  2. Applying creativity and commitment to achieving technical success; and
  3. Significant contribution to the advancement of agricultural productivity in Canada (and abroad, if applicable).

The award consists of an engraved plaque donated by Germination. It is presented by Seeds Canada and Germination at an awards ceremony at the Seeds Canada Semi-Annual Meeting.

Eligibility of Nominators

Nominations for the Canadian Plant Breeding and Genetics Award will be accepted from anyone who has knowledge of the nominee. The nominator need not be a Seeds Canada member.
