Staphyt and GenoScreen have signed a collaboration agreement to provide integrated support across genomics, regulatory studies, and field trials.

Staphyt is a contract research organization and regulatory affairs consultant focused on agricultural experimentation and risk assessment. GenoScreen provides genomics and bioinformatics services. Under the agreement, the two organisations will combine GenoScreen’s genomic analysis capabilities with Staphyt’s regulatory and experimental work to support product development from proof-of-concept through regulatory field validation.

Rationale for the Collaboration

Development of microbial products — such as biostimulants and biocontrol solutions — and assessment of their effects on soil and plant health increasingly depend on genomic analysis. These data are used to support evidence requirements in European regulatory processes, including identification, traceability, safety, and efficacy.

“With this partnership, we aim to offer our clients an integrated experience where scientific rigor meets regulatory mastery,” said Téo Fournier, Director of the Solutions and Services Department at GenoScreen. “By uniting our know-how, GenoScreen and Staphyt are creating a unique continuum, from field trials to genomic data, entirely focused on regulatory proof. Our shared ambition is to support our clients in a complete, seamless, transparent, and expert manner. This is a concrete illustration of our vision: ‘Redefine Service’.”

The collaboration is intended to help organisations generate the controlled datasets needed for regulatory submissions and to document both the microorganism being developed and its effects on soil microbial communities, according to a press release.

Scope of Work

The agreement covers complementary services from both organisations.

  • GenoScreen expands its offering by leveraging Staphyt’s core competencies:
  • Management of marketing authorization applications with competent authorities.
  • Conducting efficacy trials in the field, greenhouses, or controlled experimental conditions.
  • Performing laboratory  studies (ecotoxicology, analytical chemistry, etc.) in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Staphyt strengthens its scientific capabilities through GenoScreen’s expertise:

  • Microbial and regulatory genomics.
  • Sequencing and bioinformatics analysis of microorganisms and plants.
  • Development of genetic tools (specific qPCR, gene expression studies, soil microorganism impact studies).

“We are driven by the desire to offer an increasingly comprehensive 360° service to support our clients throughout the life of their projects,” said Olivier Marchioro, CEO of Staphyt. “The collaboration between Staphyt and GenoScreen is a natural extension of our strategy to build partnerships in complementary fields that support innovation. This partnership stems from a growing client need to link genetic understanding with research and development studies in controlled conditions or open fields for regulatory data. Thus, we support the development of innovative solutions and provide the keys to meeting both current and future regulatory requirements.”
