Bosch BASF Smart Farming and AGCO Announce Collaboration

Bosch BASF Smart Farming announced a collaboration with AGCO Corporation to integrate Smart Spraying technology on Fendt Rogator sprayers and to develop new features according to a release.

The trails of the Bosch BASF Smart Farming’s Smart Spraying Solution started in May 2021 to allow farmers to use herbicide conservatively without having less weed control. The system uses targeted spraying for day and night conditions while also offering digital tools to turn herbicide application data into insights. This data helps users improve yields and efficiency. The collaboration utilizes BASF Smart Farming’s weed identification technology and Fendt Rogator’s application platform. The new system will be offered by AGCO in the Americas and Europe starting in 2024.

Farmers using the system will be able to utilize customized agronomic recommendations and according to the release “end-to-end user experience through AGCO on-board and off-board controls and Bosch BASF Smart Farming’s integrated digital platform from xarvio Digital Farming Solutions”. The insights and data gathered will be available to users. Crops that are currently included in the system are corn, soy, cotton, canola, sunflower and sugar beet, but more crops are being integrated with time.

“What makes our system unique is the combination of superior precision, digital tools, and the best agronomic expertise,” said Matt Leininger, Bosch BASF Smart Farming, North America. “With a 24/7 application capability, we create exceptional green-on-green and green-on-brown performance in the market. This type of precision agronomics offering is a breakthrough to support farmers with less impact and higher yields.”

“The progress we have made with Bosch BASF Smart Farming in developing a sustainable solution that maintains productivity while improving profitability, delivering clean fields with maximum savings, is an excellent example of AGCO’s farmer focus,” said Seth Crawford, Precision Ag & Digital SVP & GM, AGCO. “We look forward to our further collaboration with Bosch BASF Smart Farming as we work together to bring this solution to farmers and custom applicators around the world.”
