The Canadian Seed Growers’ Association has landed a spot on a country-wide governance awards shortlist.
The Canadian Seed Growers’ Association (CSGA) has earned national recognition for forward-thinking leadership, being named a finalist for the 2025 Excellence in Governance Awards in the “Organizational Governance” category by Governance Professionals of Canada (GPC).
The nomination caps a year of governance modernization at CSGA. At the heart of the transformation was the reintroduction of Affiliate and Associate membership classes — a move that followed a comprehensive by-law review, a national consultation with members, and a unanimous vote at the Association’s November 2024 Special General Meeting.
The changes didn’t stop there. CSGA also overhauled its Board policies and introduced new governance procedures aimed at fostering inclusivity, transparency, and responsiveness. The reforms are part of a broader vision for a “next-generation CSGA,” positioning the organization for an expanded role in Canada’s seed certification system as Seed Regulatory Modernization reshapes the sector.
“Being recognized by Canada’s leading corporate governance body is a meaningful milestone and a testament to the thoughtful work CSGA has done to strengthen its governance,” the Association noted in a statement.
CSGA credited its Governance Committee — Glenn Logan, Roy Klym, Carl Bolton, and Andrew Arye — along with staff leaders Caroline Lafontaine and Doug Miller for steering the process.
Winners of the 2025 Excellence in Governance Awards will be announced in November.
