When Systems Start Talking: How a Simple Integration Changes the Way Seed Data is Managed

Founder,
Seedtrakr

Bill Rimmer, founder of Seedtrakr, combined decades of enterprise software experience with a seed grower’s real-world challenge to modernize how the industry manages data and transactions. It’s grown into a powerful cloud-based platform and network transforming how seed businesses connect and operate.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned working with seed growers, it’s that data is only useful if you can actually get to it.

Every grower we talk to has the same problem: too many systems, too many passwords, and not enough time. They might use one platform for inventory, another for testing, and still another for certification. It’s a juggling act that eats up valuable hours and leaves room for error.

That’s why our partnership with 20/20 Seed Labs has been such a natural fit. Our customers already rely on both of us — Seedtrakr for managing lots, sales, and certification data, and 20/20 for testing and quality assurance. 20/20 thought, why not make those systems talk to each other?

Together, we built an Application Programming Interface (API) — a secure, automated bridge that connects the two platforms. Now, when a test is completed at 20/20, the results automatically flow straight into Seedtrakr. No logging in to another site, no manual uploads, no hunting for files. The test data instantly links to the correct lot and updates the quality attributes.

In other words, customers can now see all their lab results in one place, right alongside the rest of their operational data. It’s a simple change with a big impact.

The best part is that it didn’t require reinventing the wheel. Carey Matthiessen and her team at 20/20 have invested heavily in their technology, and their openness made this collaboration seamless. For us, it was about leveraging that existing strength to create something that genuinely saves time and reduces headaches for our customers.

And it’s working. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive — growers love having one clean, centralized view of their data, no matter where it originates. It’s integration, not duplication.

For me, this partnership represents where our industry is heading. As agriculture becomes more digital, connectivity is no longer optional — it’s essential. When systems can share information securely and automatically, growers get back the most valuable resource they have: time.

At the end of the day, that’s what Seedtrakr is all about—building tools that make complex processes simpler and help our customers spend less time chasing data, and more time growing success.
