The Society of Commercial Seed Technologists (SCST), an organization of professional seed technologists dedicated to research, proficiency and improvement in seed testing from private and company laboratories across the United States, is hosting a workshop in 2022.

From March 7-10, 2022, the SCST will hold a Genetic Testing Super Workshop at the Iowa State Science Center in Ames, Iowa. The course is a 5-day workshop (four days plus an optional fifth day) and covers a multitude of genetic seed testing topics. A few topics include:

  • Molecular Biology
  • Herbicide Bioassay
  • Immunoassay (ELISA, Lateral Flow Strips)
  • Electrophoresis
  • PCR

The SCST Genetic Testing Super Workshop is held every other year and is the equivalent of five individual workshops in one week. It’s targeted for those preparing to take the genetic technologist exams (either the RGT or CGT), individuals looking to refresh their knowledge or beginning seed testers. The workshops will include lectures, hands-on activities as well as materials to take home.

Looking for a place to stay during the event? Participants are encouraged to stay at the Best Western University Park Inn and Suites. A van will shuttle individuals to and from campus. Parking permits also are available. A block of rooms and special rate is available.

Please go to ISU Events (iastate.edu) to register for the training course and move yourself closer to becoming at CGT or and RGT.
