Kansas City-based AgriThority LLC, an integrated agricultural science consultant providing product and field development services to the seed, seed treatment, crop protection, plant nutrition and precision agriculture sectors, announces the addition of Ignacio Colonna as research manager Latin America to meet the company’s growing research-based business.
Colonna will oversee all lab, greenhouse and field research operations, as well as data analysis and analytics projects in Latin America for AgriThority clients. A native of Argentina, Colonna was most recently employed by Pioneer Argentina SRL where he was a research scientist working throughout Latin America for nine years. During that time, Colonna was responsible for hybrid characterization and advancement through field trial planning, data collection and analysis. His characterization work involved the development of analytical tools based on environmental data and crop models to support corn hybrid positioning and implementation of new technologies for phenotyping.
“We’re excited Ignacio is joining AgriThority to manage our rapidly growing research and development business in Latin America,” says Jerry Duff, AgriThority managing member. “He’s an experienced researcher and a proven research operations manager who will support the high standards AgriThority maintains for accurate data collection, results and reporting. Furthermore, our North American, Asian and European clients will benefit from counter-season trials in South America, as well as South Africa, to double-down on product development efforts and accelerate the movement of innovative products to market.”
After earning a degree in agronomic engineering from the University of Buenos Aires, Colonna moved to the United States for his master’s degree in agronomy from Purdue University and a doctorate in crop sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
