Syngenta Canada Inc. is pleased to announce the launch of Visivio seed treatment, a new Seedcare solution offering canola growers enhanced early-season protection against flea beetle feeding and seed- and soil-borne diseases._x000D_

Visivio is the most comprehensive canola Seedcare product from Syngenta, combining six fungicide and insecticide active ingredients into one seed treatment solution to meet the changing needs of Canadian canola growers._x000D_

The launch of Visivio comes at a time when flea beetle populations are changing significantly across the Prairie provinces, with two species of flea beetles – crucifer and striped – appearing in many canola fields across Western Canada._x000D_

While crucifer flea beetles have always been a concern after seeding, striped flea beetles emerge earlier and at cooler temperatures. The early feeding by striped flea beetles, combined with later season crucifer flea beetle feeding, causes more damage to young seedlings._x000D_

Visivio is designed to address and provide additional protection against flea beetles when young canola plants are already growing slowly due to abiotic stresses, including cool soil temperatures._x000D_

Visivio combines two seed-applied insecticides, thiamethoxam and sulfoxaflor, to provide excellent control of both striped and crucifer flea beetle species for up to 35 days after seeding. This protection helps minimize stem and leaf feeding during the canola crop’s early growth stage and supports more consistent stand establishment._x000D_

“Visivio helps keep flea beetles in check, reducing the likelihood for foliar insecticide controls as well as saving time during one of the busiest periods on the farm,” explains Nathan Klages, Product Lead, Seedcare and Inoculants, with Syngenta Canada._x000D_

Visivio also contains the fungicides difenoconazole, metalaxyl-M, fludioxonil and sedaxane to control a wide range of diseases, including soil-borne blackleg, seed-borne Alternaria and the seedling disease complex (damping-off, seedling blight, seed rot and root rot) caused by Pythium spp., and Fusarium spp. Visivio also offers best-in-class Rhizoctonia protection._x000D_

“Visivio represents an evolution in flea beetle control,” says Klages. “It’s better built and better engineered to meet the needs of Canadian canola growers.”_x000D_

Visivio seed treatment will be available for the 2017 planting season. Growers should check with their seed companies to ensure Visivio is available on their hybrid of choice.
