BASF Confirms Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors and Appoints Chief Financial Officer

The supervisory board of BASF SE extended the appointment of Martin Brudermüller as BASF’s chairman of the board of executive directors until the end of the 2024 Annual Shareholders’ Meeting; Brudermüller’s appointment was originally scheduled to end in 2023. Brudermüller has been chairman of the board of executive directors of BASF SE since 2018 and a board member since 2006.

“I am pleased that Martin Brudermüller will continue to lead the company with prudence and determination in these difficult times,” said Kurt Bock, chairman of the supervisory board of BASF SE.

In addition, the supervisory board has appointed Dirk Elvermann as the new CFO and chief digital officer. He succeeds Hans-Ulrich Engel, whose mandate ends at the closing of the 2023 Annual Shareholders’ Meeting. Engel has been a member of the board of executive directors since 2008, CFO of BASF SE since 2011 and also, since 2018, vice chairman of the board of executive directors. Elvermann has been with the company since 2003 and has been leading the corporate finance division since 2019. Previously he was, among other positions, CFO of Wintershall Holding GmbH and Managing Director of BASF in Poland.

“I am convinced that Dirk Elvermann with his broad experience and leadership skills will be an excellent addition to BASF’s Board of Executive Directors,” said Bock.
