Barenbrug USA Appoints Justin Burns as New CEO

On April 20, the Royal Barenebrug Group announced that Justin Burns was appointed as the new CEO of Barenbrug USA, effective May 1, 2023, according to a release. James Schneider, the current CEO, will leave the company on June 1, 2023.

Burns has been with Barenbrug USA for 11 years, holding a variety of management roles within the company. These include forage sales manager, vice president of marketing and sales and vice president of sales.

“It’s been an honor to work with James Schneider over the years,” Burns said in the release. “His leadership and dedication to our company and the seed industry have made a lasting impact on our organization. I’m excited for the next chapter and the opportunity to lead Barenbrug USA into the future. Together with my talented Barenbrug colleagues, we will continue to offer customers the high-quality, innovative, and cost-effective solutions we’re known for.”

Schneider, the current CEO, has overseen a period of significant expansion for Barenbrug USA. Highlights include the acquisition of Jacklin Seed, the implementation of added growth strategy and the expansion of the company’s R&D program. After moving on from Barenbrug USA, he will pursue a career as a financial advisor and business consultant.

“Thanks to the contributions of our Barenbrug USA team, we have accomplished a great deal over the past 10 years. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of this journey and I couldn’t be prouder to hand over the reins to Justin Burns,” Schneider said in the release.

“James has been an inspiring leader for the past 10 years, and we are grateful for his many contributions,” said Martin Bijl, a member of the board of directors. “We know that Justin is well-prepared to take on this role and continue to lead our organization forward. We are confident that, under his leadership, Barenbrug will continue growing its presence in the U.S. market and delivering on our ambitions.”
