Syngenta welcomes Jeff Sands as its manager of federal government relations and industry relations for corn. Based in Washington, D.C., Sands will support Syngenta’s strategic federal government relations, including outreach and advocacy. He will also focus on industry relations for corn — the largest U.S. crop and a key business for the company.
“Jeff’s leadership and experience in both Washington, D.C. and agriculture will enhance our government relations program,” says Rex Martin, Syngenta head of external relations. “Jeff has solid credentials and strong contacts that will help advance policy to enable farmers to grow more from less.”
Previously, Sands was with the Agricultural Retailers Association, where he served as director of public policy. According to Syngenta, Sands brings a unique combination of experience and relationships in the executive and legislative branches of the U.S. government, as well as extensive experience in agribusiness. This will help Syngenta’s federal government relations strategy and create opportunities to maintain and expand the company’s license to operate.
