Bayer is looking at a potential bid for Monsanto, it is being reported.
According to Bloomberg, unnamed sources say German firm Bayer has held some initial discussions both internally and with advisers about buying Monsanto, valued at $43 billion. Representatives for Bayer and Monsanto declined to comment, the reports say.
The news comes just months after Monsanto explored a takeover of Syngenta. The deal never came to fruition, and the news recently broke that ChemChina will be taking over Syngenta.
