South Dakota’s SoDak Labs is offering classroom-style workshops made up of a mix of lectures on principles and hands-on experience taught by Tim Gutormson and Kalyn Brix.
Gutormson, agronomist and RST, has over 35 years of experience in the seed testing industry, including roles as editor of the first and second editions of the Seed Technologist Training Manual (STTM) and instructor in seed biology, seed technology and seed identification.
Brix, certified quality auditor (CQA), agronomist, RMI, RGT and RST, is an expert in ELISA and trait testing and co-authored the chapter on ELISA testing in the second edition of the STTM. She has over 25 years of experience in seed testing, specializing in genetics and quality.
Both have taught numerous classes on seed quality and have been very involved in seed research.

- Vigor Tests: Tray cold, saturated cold, accelerated aging (AA)
- Physical Tests: Seed coat damage test, seed moisture, hypochlorite soak test and electrical conductivity
- Herbicide Bioassay: glyphosate, glufosinate, dicamba, and 2,4-D (choline), STS
- ELISA: Corn borer, corn rootworm
- Cultivar Purity: Hilum check, peroxidase, hypocotyl growout, electrophoresis
