The European Commission is inviting a wide range of stakeholders to take part in its consultation on Community Plant Variety Rights (CPVR) legislation and the performance of the Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO). Participants include EU Member State authorities, international organisations, plant breeding and industry associations, seed and plant suppliers, farmers, growers, home gardeners, nurseries, scientific networks, civil society groups, and other relevant organisations.
The consultation aims to gather feedback on how well the CPVR framework and CPVO are performing. In particular, it will assess their effectiveness, efficiency, relevance, coherence, and overall added value at EU level. The goal is to collect evidence and practical input from stakeholders to help evaluate whether the current system is meeting today’s needs.
Contributions can be submitted through an online questionnaire, available in some or all official EU languages, with responses accepted in any official EU language. Those unable to use the questionnaire can contact the organisers directly by email. For transparency reasons, participating organisations and businesses are asked to register in the EU Transparency Register. To respond, contributors must also register or log in, including through an existing social media account.
The EU notes that personal data will be protected in line with Regulation (EU) 2018/1725. Updates on the consultation can be followed through subscription notifications.
