ISF ‘Reviewing Different Scenarios’ for World Seed Congress

This year's World Seed Congress will be held in Cape Town, South Africa

Due to concerns over the coronavirus, the International Seed Federation has decided to extend the cancellation date for the ISF World Seed Congress in Cape Town, South Africa, to April 8, 2020.

This is the second extension ISF has made to the cancellation deadline.

“With heightened concerns around COVID-19, ISF is currently reviewing different scenarios for the World Seed Congress 2020 in Cape Town. Again, we emphasize our full commitment to the health and safety of our expected 1,200 participants traveling from around the globe,” ISF said in a statement.

“We continue to monitor on a day-to-day basis. ISF and the NOC are constantly updated with information from authorities and partners regarding the health and travel situation.”

Last week, organizers completed a site visit to Cape Town to assess the situation and work in coordination with partners and concerned authorities on deciding the best way forward.

ISF has extended the deadline for free cancellation of congress registration to April 8, 2020, excluding an administrative fee of €50. This allows ISF and the NOC, and all delegates, sponsors, and providers more time to be able to make an informed decision, ISF said. Those who booked their hotels through ISF will have no cancellation fees applied to their hotel booking as long as they are canceled before April 8.

“We encourage all to remain calm. ISF assures you that we will provide sufficient and timely information to enable you to make a decision, and keep you posted on further developments.”
