When the market closed today (Aug. 31), the merger of equals between Dow and DuPont also closed, making the merger final. Starting tomorrow, Shares of DowDuPont will begin trading on the NYSE under the stock ticker symbol “DWDP” Sept. 1.
Spinoffs are expected for the next 18 months, according to the company. The new DowDuPont Board of Directors includes eight representatives from Dow and eight from DuPont.
Representatives from Dow include:
- Andrew Liveris, chairman and CEO, The Dow Chemical Company.
- Jeff Fettig, chairman and CEO, Whirlpool Corporation.
- James Bell, former chief financial officer, Boeing.
- Raymond Milchovich, former chairman and CEO, Foster Wheeler.
- Paul Polman, CEO, Unilever.
- Dennis Reilley, non-executive chairman, Marathon Oil Corp.
- James Ringler, chairman, Teradata Corporation.
- Ruth Shaw, former group executive, public policy and president, Duke Nuclear.
Representative from DuPont include:
- Edward Breen, chair and CEO, DuPont.
- Alexander (Sandy) Cutler, former chairman and CEO, Eaton.
- Lamberto Andreotti, former chair of the board and CEO, Bristol-Myers Squibb.
- Robert Brown, president, Boston University.
- James Gallogly, former chairman of the management board and CEO, LyondellBasell Industries N.V.
- Marillyn Hewson, chairman, president and CEO, Lockheed Martin Corporation.
- Lois Juliber, former vice chairman and chief operating officer, Colgate-Palmolive Company.
- Lee Thomas, former chairman and CEO, Rayonier.
The board of the directors and investors are in discussions about the spinoff businesses. According to a May 11 news release, the companies will include “a leading global pure-play Agriculture company; a leading global pure-play Materials Science company; and a leading technology and innovation-driven Specialty Products company.” However, the Des Moines Register reports that investors are pushing for as many as six spinoff companies.
