The Independent Professional Seed Association (IPSA) is seeing a number of changes to its board of directors. While new officers were approved in January, March has brought a different set of faces to the board.

  • On March 6, 2021, Dan Hogstad submitted his resignation to IPSA CEO Todd Martin, ending his term as board president.
  • Tim Greene of Burrus Seed has been selected by the Board to take on the role of president.
  • Chris Cornelius of Cornelius Seed will serve as first vice president.
  • Chris Latham of Latham Seeds will serve as second vice president as well as treasurer.
  • The board has also welcomed Colin Steen of Legacy Seed Companies to serve out the remainder of Dan’s board term.

All changes to the board of directors are effective immediately.

Hogstad’s Next Steps

As for Hogstad’s next steps, Rob-See-Co of Elkhorn, NE, announced on March 15th the acquirement of NorthStar Genetics.

“Rob-See-Co and NorthStar Genetics share the culture of a regional, family-owned company,” says Rob Robinson, CEO of Rob-See-Co. “Both companies offer a simple, transparent business model and value the customer relationship. Given the synergies between the two companies, we see a mutually beneficial relationship.”

Rob-See-Co will continue to work with all NorthStar Genetics distributors, and Hogstad is optimistic about the future.

“NorthStar Genetics began in 1996 and grew into a serious player in both the Upper Midwest and Canada,” says Hogstad. “Today’s environment has led us to sell to Rob-See-Co, an outstanding group of seedsmen who are very experienced and excel in dealer development and support. This dealer-oriented business is something we’ve strived to accomplish, and we’re proud of the dealer force we have.”
