BASF Opens New Center for Sustainable Agriculture

BASF celebrated the opening of its new Center for Sustainable Agriculture earlier this week with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony. The unique destination’s focus is informing visitors on how sustainable agriculture impacts the environment, people and planet.

The center covers a broad range of topics, from “technology and innovation driving agriculture’s productivity to how healthy homes and communities are not much different than a farmer’s field,” shared a press release from BASF.

The ceremony provided information and tours for attendees that allowed guests to engage with the Center’s hands on exhibits. Tours of the newly renovated gardens, which contain over 100 species of plants, trees and shrubs, were also available.

“Farming is the biggest job on Earth and it’s getting bigger and more complex,” said Paul Rea, Senior Vice President of BASF Agricultural Solutions North America in the press release. “Farmers are working to reduce their impact on the planet with an eye on leaving things better for the next generation. The Center showcases technologies and solutions that find the right balance, for farmers, agriculture and future generations, while making tremendous strides to increase productivity and resiliency in an ever-changing world.”

The exhibits highlight various BASF initiatives in Sustainability & Biodiversity, Food, Fuel & Fiber, Agricultural Technology and Pest Control.

“From those who make their living in agriculture to those who’ve never stepped foot on a farm, there’s something for everyone to learn and to share at the new Center,” said Chip Shilling, Issues Management and Sustainability Manager at BASF Agricultural Solutions North America.

The BASF Center for Sustainable Agriculture hopes to be a place where not only farmers and consumers, but anyone interested in agriculture, can visit to grow their knowledge on matters that are moving sustainable agriculture forward.
