Farmers and Agribusiness Companies Worldwide Form Turningpoint Alliance

Zero Summit and Vidavo Ventures announced their launch of the Turningpoint Alliance (turningpointalliance.org). Turningpoint Alliance is a call to action worldwide to decarbonize our food systems. Farmers involved represent over 10 million acres of cropland and 15 million tons of livestock according to a release.

The alliance has some of the largest livestock and crop farmers involved as well as co-ops, novel input providers, tech innovation firms, food companies and corporate buyers of carbon credits. All of these companies support the alliance’s declaration, which is to increase the number of sustainable food systems to help reach the UN’s goal of net zero emissions by 2050.

Bom Futuro, Coopercitrus, Locks, Minerva Foods, Scheffer, SLC, Open Ag Farm, BASF and Embrapa are some of the initial founding members that have signed alliance’s pledge. The alliance’s goal is to increase innovation and invest in technology that will help with decarbonization industry wide.

“Regenerative soil management practices, artificial intelligence, precision agriculture, farm electrification, and biological inputs will transform the way we produce food and potentially sequester more than 100 gigatons of CO2 in the next three decades,” said Paula Pinto, an agribusiness executive and CEO of the alliance. “Our members are pioneers in this field. Together with many more stakeholders that will be joining us, we can reach a planetary turning point in the fight against climate change.”
