Legacy Seeds Corn and Soybean Business Joins GDM’s Mustang Seeds

The corn and soybean business of Legacy Seeds, recently acquired by GDM, will be integrated into the Mustang Seeds brand.

A Mustang Seeds news release stated the change represents a structural shift in GDM’s U.S. operations and brings together two companies with overlapping regional footprints.

Legacy Seeds, founded in 1999 in Waupaca, Wisconsin, has marketed corn and soybean products across South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois. The business joins Mustang Seeds, which became part of the GDM portfolio in 2020.

“We’re thrilled to welcome the Legacy Seeds corn and soybean team into the Mustang Seeds family,” Mustang Seeds northern region general manager Terry Schultz said in the release. “Their dedication to grower success and commitment to quality mirrors our own values. This is more than a name change—it’s a commitment to continue delivering the same trusted service with even greater resources and innovation.”

Philip Chandler, North America Business Lead at GDM, said the move is part of a broader market strategy.

“This is a key step in our strategy to unify and strengthen our presence in the U.S. market. By bringing Legacy Seeds’ corn and soybean business under the Mustang Seeds brand, we’re combining two trusted names to better serve growers with enhanced product offerings and localized support,” Chandler said.

According to GDM, the company plans to continue supporting farmers, dealers and retail partners during the transition while maintaining an independent product lineup and localized service model.
