CD Seeds Joins Frédéric Poujaud Companies

KeyGene

CD Seeds, a subsidiary of the Swiss group Omya — an industrial mineral company — announced that it has sold its activity to the group headed by Frédéric Poujaud. Already present in France and South America with companies such as PanAmerican Seeds, Agrofün and Semillas Semameris Ltda., this independent family business specializes in the selection, production and marketing of corn, sunflower and soybeans seeds along with plant cover for soil conservation.

The group sells seeds in more than 20 countries. With this acquisition, the aim is to consolidate its presence in Western Europe, while affirming its desire to remain focused on genetic innovation.

Significant synergies will help strengthen a wider genetic offering through many agreements with other seed breeders, while pursuing specific breeding programs.

Facing the concentration that is currently going on in the seed sector, the group offers a solid genetic alternative. It handles exclusive varieties and contract based distribution resulting on long-term partnerships.

To meet customer expectations, CD Seeds’ structure will remain untouched but the brand will change to Energy Seeds.
