Podcast Launches to Explore the People and Ideas Behind Global Agriculture

A new podcast from Iowa State University’s Seed Science Center is digging into the stories, science, and innovations that influence the global seed industry.

Called GermiNation, the podcast explores how seed science intersects with research, regulation, and education. Produced by the Seed Science Center, each episode aims to highlight a mix of voices—from established leaders in agriculture to students preparing for careers in the seed sector.

The debut episode features Scott Heuchelin, the new director of the Seed Science Center and a faculty member in the Department of Plant Pathology, Entomology and Microbiology. Heuchelin, an Iowa State graduate, brings more than two decades of experience in seed health and international policy. In the episode, he outlines his goals for the center and reflects on the evolving role of seed science in global agriculture.

Future episodes will include conversations with industry professionals, researchers, and students. While the podcast is currently audio-only, video versions are planned for later releases.

Episodes are available on Podbean, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, IHeart, Amazon Music/Audible, and YouTube.
