 width=
Barrett Browning Daffodils

Origin: Europe

Family: Amaryllidaceae

Genus: Narcissus

Uses: This self-propogating perennial is a showstopper in the early spring months and makes for beautiful floral arrangements.

Divisions: Trumpet Jonquil, Large cup Tazetta, Small cup Poeticus, Double Split Corona, Triandrus Other, Cyclamineus Botanical

Fun Facts: The word “narcissus,” its genus, comes from the Greek word “Narkissos” and its base word “Narke,” meaning sleep or numbness. This is attributed to the sedative effect from the alkaloids contained within the plant. As a member of the Amaryllidaceae family, daffodils are poisonous.

Editor’s Note: We realize that daffodils are not grown from seed but wanted to recognize the efforts of breeders in giving consumers more choice.
