Take 3: ASTA Vegetable and Flower Seed Conference

Seed World is launching a new short-form video series called Take 3, designed to share quick takeaways from major seed industry events.

The concept is simple: after attending conferences and meetings across the global seed sector, members of the Seed World team will highlight three things that stood out — one industry insight and two lighter observations from the experience.

In the first episode, filmed after the American Seed Trade Association (ASTA) Vegetable and Flower Conference in San Diego, Seed World U.S. editor Aimee Nielson and Seed World Group director of partner development Aiden Brook discuss how seed decisions are increasingly shaping the produce consumers see on grocery store shelves.

Traits such as flavor, freshness and shelf life are becoming central considerations for breeders and produce companies alike, reflecting changing market signals from retailers and consumers.

The pair also highlight Seed World’s inaugural Connector of the Year award, which was presented to Lisa Branco, general manager of Radicle Seed.

The recognition reflects Seed World Group’s mission: “People Connecting People” across the seed sector.

Finally, the video closes with a lighter moment from the trip: despite cool and rainy weather in San Diego, Brook still found time to jump into the Pacific Ocean, while Nielson continued reporting from the conference even after breaking her foot.

The Take 3 format will appear regularly as Seed World staff attend meetings across the seed industry.
